Spaces Shared Program
NLPSPA and the participating associations of the Newfoundland and Labrador Seniors Coalition welcomed the opportunity to provide an information session on the Re-launch of the Spaces Shared Program. This relaunch was made possible by the generous support of NorthPine, whose funding has enabled the company to create dedicated resources and human support to serve communities across the province.
Spaces Shared is a program designed to connect seniors who have a spare room with post-secondary students in need of safe and affordable housing. Seniors who have extra space in their homes are matched with post-secondary students seeking stable, welcoming, and affordable accommodation-creating arrangements that benefit both sides in practical and deeply human ways.
PRESENTERS were:
- Hope Colbourne is the Community Engagement & Partnerships Lead. She brings a wealth of experience in community development and a deep commitment to building meaningful connections across Newfoundland and Labrador.
- Rylan Kinnon is the Co-Founder and CEO of Spaces Shared. Driven by a belief that housing can foster genuine community connection, Rylan is passionate about using technology to address two of Canada’s most pressing social challenges: the student housing crisis and the isolation facing older adults aging in place
