Registrants are encouraged to arrive 30 minutes in advance to ensure the session starts on time.

Please bring along your iPhone, smartphone, iPad, or whatever other portable electronic device you use for accessing online communication.

The curriculum is as follows:

1. Digital Basics: 

• Introduction to computers, operating systems, and common hardware components
• Navigating the desktop, files, and folders
• Understanding basic computer terminology

2. Internet Fundamentals: 

• Introduction to web browsers and their features
• Conducting effective web searches
• Understanding website navigation and URL structures
• Exploring online resources and tools

3. Email and Communication: 

• Setting up and managing email accounts
• Composing, sending, and replying to emails
• Understanding email etiquette and best practices
• Introduction to video conferencing and instant messaging tools

As there is a general class capacity of 50 people, you will need to register early to secure your placement. If you are unable to attend for some unexpected reason, we ask you to let us know so we can offer the spot to someone else.

NLPSPA will be sponsoring refreshments during the session. Registrants are also encouraged to ensure their own personal care needs and any additional or special eating needs are met. Members of the Newfoundland and Labrador Public Sector Pensioners’ Association in the Gander area are invited to participate in this session, as well as any other seniors, retirees or older persons who wish to increase their digital knowledge and comfort. Come and learn and bring a friend. But remember, you must pre-register; drop-ins cannot be accepted.
