The Canadian Association of Retired Persons NL (CARP NL) and the Newfoundland and Labrador Public Sector Pensioners’ Association (NLPSPA) have partnered with the Canadian Foundation for Economic Education (CFEE) (www.cfee.org) to bring you an introductory workshop to be followed by two additional workshops (agenda and dates tentatively confirmed below) that are aimed at helping seniors develop a better understanding of financial issues relevant and important to them.
Topics in the introductory workshop include:
• learn how to set and reach financial goals
• adapt, plan for and manage retirement from a financial perspective
• recognize various expenses and plan a practical budget
• learn how to continue saving in retirement
• plan and start a second career
• cope with the loss of a partner or spouse
• make estate arrangements
Possible topics for the follow up workshops could cover areas like: Legacy Planning, Dealing with Chronic or Terminal Illness, or the Loss of a Loved One, Wills and Powers of Attorney, and even Resources to Help Your Grandchildren Learn About Money.
The initial workshop is scheduled for May 13, 2025, from 2:00-4:00 PM, NL time zone. The first meeting will be a general introduction to what CFEE can offer, to be followed later in the year, on October 14 and November 19 with the topics based on feedback from the initial meeting.
