Note the building is locked 5pm Monday to Friday and closed on weekends.*\nThe Newfoundland & Labrador Public Sector Pensioners’ Association is pleased to release its 2023 Scholarships Program. This program supports a family member of an NLPSPA Member in good standing to pursue post-secondary education at a recognized college\, university\, or trades program to attain their educational goals and succeed to their fullest potential. Click here for the application. \nNLPSPA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM 2023 \nIn 2023\, NLPSPA will award four annually renewable scholarships as follows: \nScholarships (x4)\, one to a value of $2\,000\, a second to a value of $1\,500.00\, a third to the value of $1\,000.00\, and a fourth to the value of $500.00 to support a family member of an NLPSPA member (son\, daughter\, or grandson/granddaughter) to pursue post-secondary education at a recognized college\, university or trades program to attain their educational goals\, meet their professional objectives and succeed to their fullest potential. \nScholarship Criteria: The Board of Directors will establish Eligibility Criteria that may be modified from time to time depending on available supportive funding\, applicants’ demographics\, and administrative infrastructure demand. NLPSPA has a Scholarship Committee to administer the Scholarship Program. \nScholarship Eligibility Criteria:  \n\nHigh School graduate/Post-Secondary student;\nAccepted and registered to attend a post-secondary institute or trades program in September 2023 (two letters\, one confirming acceptance at the post-secondary educational institute and one confirming attendance as outlined in the scholarship application);\nTwo Letters of Reference\, one of which should be from a teacher\, guidance counselor\, instructor or professor;\nApplicant or applicant’s family member must be a registered member in good standing of the Newfoundland and Labrador Public Sector Pensioners’ Association (membership ID number is required);\nOpen to students pursuing a degree or non-degree program and in full or part-time attendance;\nApplication to be supported by transcript of previous year’s final grades from high school or post-secondary institute.\n\nDEADLINE FOR APPLICATIONS IS AUGUST 11\, 2023\nPrevious winners are not eligible to apply.\nIncomplete applications will not be accepted. \nApplication forms available from NLPSPA office by calling (709) 754-5730\, toll-free 1-(800)-563-4188\, email pensioners@npspa.ca or the NLPSPA website at NL Pensioners Association (nlpspa.ca) \n(NOTE: NLPSPA does not communicate by “text”) \n

DESCRIPTION:You are invited to meet and join our performers for a delightful hour of music and song — close on the heels of Valentines’ Day!!!  \nFilliday is a vocal quartet singing for 15 years. They sang a number together with the St. John’s Choir and enjoyed it so much\, they continued on as “Filliday”. \nThe name comes from the Dictionary of Newfoundland English as a description\, by Capt. Whitbourne in 1623\, of the local small singing birds. SUMMARY:THE ST. JOHN`S CHOIR
DESCRIPTION:THE ST. JOHN`S CHOIR of St. John’s\, Newfoundland and Labrador is a true adult community choir whose members represent a broad section of St. John’s and its surrounding communities. The choir’s age group ranges from early twenties to seniors and its members are from all walks of life and educational levels. While some members have music degrees\, many others do not read music. Some have little or no choral experience\, but then\, many have experience in multiple choirs and groups. \nTwenty-five years ago\, the St. John’s Choir rose from the ashes of the defunct Extension Choir of Memorial University of Newfoundland when several of the extension choir groups persevered to keep their own choirs singing. Choir members have fond memories of their first director\, Dr. Ignatius Rumbolt. After the Choir’s first year\, Mrs. Patricia Young became a long-term director and “Musical Mother”. \nOver the years\, the Choir has been guided by several well-known directors. Currently\, Stephen Candow is the director and Phil Roberts is the accompanist. The Choir performs two main concerts a year\, Christmas and spring. It has participated in Festival 500 events\, the Kiwanis Music Festival\, at numerous national conventions\, local fund raisers\, and telethons. \nThe Choir is completely self-sufficient financially\, raising all of their own funds.
