DESCRIPTION:CRA (Canada Revenue Agency) in partnership with NLPSPA & CARP NL presents a two-part membership series on: \n(Session #1) GENERAL INCOME TAX PREPARATION\, BENEFITS\, CREDITS \n(Session #2) DISABILITY TAX CREDIT\, MEDICAL EXPENSES\, CAREGIVER BENEFIT & OTHER SERVICES \nThese are virtual meetings and internet access is required. \nBenefits and credits can make a big difference to people in our community. The CRA’s CVITP and Benefits Outreach Program helps people to learn about the benefits of tax-filing\, the benefits and credits they may be eligible for\, and the supports available to help with completing an income tax and benefits return. \nAs 2024 is closing\, our thoughts will soon turn to the dread of filing our annual tax returns. Once again\, NLPSPA and CARP NL have engaged with representatives from the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) to host two information sessions for seniors on income tax\, benefits\, credits\, how to prepare your taxes\, how to avoid payment interruptions\, what special tax credits may be available and what services CRA can provide. These topics will be covered in session #1. Session #2 will cover other subject areas such as GST/HST credit\, disability tax credit\, pension income splitting\, medical expenses\, the caregiver benefit\, etc.  CRA will also provide information on the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program\, online services and answer general questions you might have. \nOur presenter for these two events will be Melanie Cole\, CVITP and Benefits Outreach Officer from the CRA location in St. John’s. \nFollowing each presentation\, there will be time for questions and answers.   \nSession #1 \nWhen: Tuesday\, October 22\, 2024 \nTime:  2:00 PM NST; 1:30 PM AST \nSession #2 \nWhen: Tuesday\, October 29\, 2024 \nTime: 2:00 PM NST; 1:30 PM AST \nPlease click on the link below to register for this event.
