“Read Our Lips” LAUNCH Event

Special Event: Read Our Lips Course Launch
Thursday, October 3, 2019

Noon – 2:00 PM

You are officially invited to attend the Read Our Lips social enterprise launch event.

On Thursday, October 3 from Noon – 2:00 pm the Canadian Hard of Hearing Association – Newfoundland and Labrador (CHHA-NL) will launch a brand new online learning course called Read Our Lips.

Read Our Lips is the first of its kind in Canada, and includes online lessons to teach lip and speech reading techniques to residents of Newfoundland and Labrador.

1 in 5 adult Canadians over the age of 19 experience hearing challenges that can affect daily communication. This number increases with age.
How The Read Our Lips Program Helps

Improving your ability to see what someone is saying helps to improve communication in daily life, especially at times when there is background noise, like in coffee shops, restaurants, at family gatherings, and in meetings. It is a key part of communication for those with hearing loss.

Communication means feeling connected.

When we can see what’s being said, we feel a part of what’s happening.

We believe that the antidote to isolation is inclusion; that everyone should be empowered to partake in the stories that weave the fabric of our lives. We’re not just teaching, we’re helping open doors to a more confident life.

See speech, feel connected.
